Well, I've upgraded the site- only I can't use charcoal 2 :(

Is it possible for instructions on how to change the theme / add files/ etc. so that it can be used on RN2.4.0 ?

Cheers.

PwnageTool 3.1.5 with Firmware 3.1.3 Support Released

The iPhone Dev-Team has released PwnageTool 3.1.5 for Mac OS X which lets some iPhones upgrade safely to the 3.1.3 firmware.

Using PwnageTool to...

The iPhone Dev-Team has released PwnageTool 3.1.5 for Mac OS X which lets some iPhones upgrade safely to the 3.1.3 firmware.

Using PwnageTool to upgrade will preserve your jailbreak and ultrasn0w unlock. If you are using the blacksn0w unlock at baseband 05.11.07 you will need to stay at 3.1.2.

iPhone 3GS users (regardless of unlock) should stay away from this and all 3.1.3 jailbreak tools unless you know you have your “SHSH hashes” backed up via Cydia. That’s because if you make a mistake you may find yourself stuck at official 3.1.3 with no way to jailbreak or come back down to 3.1.2 to jailbreak.

If you really truly feel that you need to update, this version creates a custom 3.1.3 IPSW for you to restore to on your iPhone 2G, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS with early bootrom, iPod touch 1G, and iPod touch 2G with early bootrom. If you don’t know if you have an early bootrom or not, please avoid updating until you learn more.

You don’t need to be pre-jailbroken on anything but the iPod touch 2G early bootrom. And really for that device, it’s faster and easier to use redsn0w 0.9.4 as mentioned in our last post. For that matter, if you have an ipt1g, iphone2g, or iphone3g(and don’t need an unlock), you should use redsn0w too (but version 0.9.3). It’s faster and you won’t have to go through a full restore process (just do an update then run redsn0w, pointing it at 3.1.2 FW instead of 3.1.3).

If you have an iPhone 3GS, PwnageTool works if you’re currently at version 3.1.2 or below (down to 3.0). You don’t need to be already jailbroken — PwnageTool will ask you if you’re jailbroken after you’ve created the IPSW. Don’t use PwnageTool on the iPhone 3GS if you’re at 3.1.3, it just won’t work. If you can’t downgrade because you don’t have your 3GS 3.1.2 hashes on file with Cydia, you’ll need to sit out the 3.1.3 jailbreak.

The iPhone Dev-Team has released RedSn0w 0.9, a cross-platform jailbreaking, unlocking, and customizing tool for iPhones and iPod touches. This...

The iPhone Dev-Team has released RedSn0w 0.9, a cross-platform jailbreaking, unlocking, and customizing tool for iPhones and iPod touches. This version adds support for the iPod touch 3G as well as IPCC tethering.

How is it different from blackra1n?
- It offers custom logos and verbose boot
- It installs Cydia, afc2, and the IPCC tethering hack without needing separate downloads. Because they're all installed in one go, redsn0w doesn't need the multiple levels of installs that blackra1n requires.
- It uses their original Pwnage bootrom exploit for iPhone 2G, iPhone 3G, and iPod 1G. (Because it's a bootrom exploit, it can't be fixed by Apple without a new hardware release.) Note that redsn0w 0.9 does use the USB exploit for iPhone 3GS and iPod 2G+3G running 3.1.2, but that exploit will be fixed in Apple's next FW release.

What is the IPCC tethering hack?
It allows you to install cellphone Carrier Bundles that aren't officially signed by Apple. This lets you, for instance, install a Carrier Bundle that allows you to use your iPhone as a way to connect your PC to the internet (through your 3G cell connection).

Remember if you have a late-model iPhone 3GS, or if you have an iPod touch 2G whose serial number begins with “MC”, or any iPod touch 3G, you can use redsn0w to jailbreak but you are currently restricted to “tethered” rebooting. That means you need to connect your device to a computer to complete the boot after a reset.

Now that RedSn0w is out of beta we will be posting tutorials shortly.

[UPDATE]:
RedSn0w 0.9.1 has been released. It temporarily removes the IPCC hack which was causing problems with the 0.9 release.

[UPDATE x2]:
RedSn0w 0.9.2 has been released to fix an issue with Cydia not opening properly.

You can download the latest versions here:

Was just scanning the internet today, and decided to check out Nuke-Evolution The Official Nuke-Evolution Site and it seems like Technocrat, the head developer for nuke evo, officially announced the end of 2.0.7

Here is the quote from Technocrat:

Quote:

It's been about a year and a 1/2 since NE 2.0.7 has been release. It is about time that we start to talk about the fact that NE 2.0.7 is reaching the end of life.

Though I feel that there is no security issues with 2.0.7, it has a number of bugs and minor issues. All of which will not be addressed by me. There is also the fact that NukeSentinel has also not been updated. However Sentinel has not added any real improvements since then. There are also a ton of new features, mods, and modules out there as well. It's not go to continue to allow this version to hold back the community. So it's time to start thinking about moving people to better and more up to date projects.

As such the 2.0.7 download has been removed from the downloads. If you still need to download it for what ever reason you can still access it from the sourceforge:
https://sourceforge.net/project/show...roup_id=183204
If anyone else has a link they want to share I will add it.

What about support?
This site will continue to be open and provide support for the foreseeable future. We have some wonderful people that have been helping answer your questions and I believe they will continue to do so. I will also continue to try and answer questions when I can.

What do we do?
Well this shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. I have been saying this for some time. There are plenty of other options out there.

First 2.1.0 by the NE German team.

Also there is Evolution-Extreme which is maturing into a nice project.

There are other projects out there. If anyone would like me to add them or list them please let me know. I just picked the two that I have familiarity with.

What about the future of this site?
If someone wanted to take over (or purchase) this project and/or site at some point I would entertain the idea. I am also considering turning the site over to the Evo-German team. Nothing is set right now and we will continue this site for awhile. But at some point we will bring this chapter to a close.

Thank you everyone

iPhone Dev-Team Releases RedSn0w 0.9 Beta for Windows, Mac

...

The iPhone Dev-Team has released a beta of RedSn0w 0.9 which performs jailbreaking, unlocking, and customizing for the latest iPhone firmware.

Customizations include boot logos, recovery logos, and “verbose” boot.

The beta supports:
- All iPhones and iPod touches except the iPod touch 3G
- Windows and Mac OSX (x86)
- Apple firmware 3.0 and 3.1.2

When it's out of beta, it will support the iPod touch 3G, PPC OSX, and Linux.

How is it different from PwnageTool?
redsn0w doesn't require a system restore like PwnageTool does (it doesn't even use iTunes at all). On the other hand, PwnageTool can prevent your baseband from being upgraded when you upgrade your firmware, preserving your unlock. (redsn0w doesn't touch your baseband but it doesn't help preserve it during an upgrade either). redsn0w works by modifying your current filesystem, so your existing baseband, data and applications should remain intact.

How is it different from blackra1n?
- It uses our original Pwnage bootrom exploit for iPhone 2G, iPhone 3G, and iPod 1G. (Because it's a bootrom exploit, it can't be fixed by Apple without a new hardware release.) Note that redsn0w 0.9 does use the USB exploit for iPhone 3GS and iPod 2G running 3.1.2, but that exploit will be fixed in Apple's next FW release.
- It offers custom logos and verbose boot
- It installs Cydia without needing a separate download
- It's not as fast :) (but redsn0w handles more variations :))

If you have a late-model iPhone 3GS, or if you have an iPod touch 2G whose serial number begins with “MC”, you can use redsn0w to jailbreak but you are currently restricted to “tethered” rebooting. That means you need to connect your device to a computer to complete the boot after a reset. Also, these devices cannot have custom logos.

We will be posting detailed tutorials on how to use RedSn0w 0.9 as soon as the beta is finalized. Please stay tuned for more information.

I have the Reactor theme installed. When doing a search on the forums, on the results page the icons for folder.gif and minipost.gif show up as the red X. When I right click to look at the properties it is looking in the pureBlack theme folder. I do not have this theme. Is there something I can edit in the Reactor theme to correct this?
Thanks.
